One strand of the ESRC funded research we are undertaking involves interview and focus group research within Northern Ireland. The research is designed to be participatory and allow participants a central role in the design of the questions, the way they are answered, and the outcomes of the project.
This week, project researchers have been undertaking the first stages of this part of the research, talking to people from all over Northern Ireland and discussing questions of identity and Brexit.
Part of the research also involves an analysis of the visual cultures and iconography of Brexit and identity in Northern Ireland, and work was also undertaken on this aspect. Here’s a picture (referencing the cartoon Pinky and the Brain) taken on a part of the peace wall.
